Muslim women respond to political trauma by exercising their citizenship and care work beyond the family. Their activism is not driven by patriarchal indoctrination, but by a belief that one cannot lose hope in the possibility of justice.
Full text of Nehru’s speech to the Constituent Assembly on February 2, 1948: “A glory has departed and the sun that warmed and brightened our lives has set and we shiver in the cold and dark.”
In 1967, Martin Luther King publicly denounced not only the US war in Vietnam but the militarism that enabled the war and undermined American society. King’s sermon, delivered on April 4, 1967, was both powerful and prophetic. Its meaning and value exist today as much as they did 55 years ago.
