Mega corporations like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and Danone are making around 494 times what they spend by bottling water in Mexico and selling it back to locals who have no choice but to buy it.
Extreme climate hits Antarctica, smashing records, shocking scientists as temperatures soar 50F to 90F degrees above normal. The planet’s climate system appears to be entering an era unlike anything ever experienced throughout human history.
Given our world, we should all probably be in the streets now. I mean, here we are heading into Cold War II, while facing the possibility of World War III on a planet that, thanks to the way we live and produce energy, is heading for hell.
Overall, the picture is bleak. Environment is given a few token sops, while in fact financial allocations continue to fuel an economy that is fundamentally unsustainable. The country’s natural resource base will continue to be devastated, especially by the massive increases in mega-infrastructure.
Rather than being a panacea for Indian agriculture, corporate food provision will likely accelerate many key elements of India’s agricultural crisis. It will produce a decline in land productivity, reduce food security, adversely affect price stability and will tend to negatively impact employment and credit relations.
Three scientists associated with the IPCC are discouraged and are criticizing governments for not doing enough about climate change. We propose that scientists studying natural phenomena and processes are ripe for collaborative relations with social scientists, including socialist investigators.

We need a socialist planned economy that can implement a long term plan to make the transformations that are needed for our very survival: a rapid transition off fossil fuels and a restoration of ecosystems to draw down carbon from the atmosphere, restore the water cycle and cool the climate.
