The PUCL expresses its deep disappointment with respect to the verdict of the Supreme Court denying the right to marry to the LGBTQI community. It is unfortunate that the bench was unanimous in declaring that there is no fundamental right to marriage.
The People’s Union for Civil Liberates (PUCL), India’s premier human rights organisation, has said that the Supreme Court judgement, upholding reservation for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), strikes at the “basic structure of the Constitution”.
