India suffered not one partition but many. On the one hand India was partitioned into two nation states. But along with the country, two major regions – Punjab and Bengal, evolved through many centuries, were also partitioned – this partition of the regions was probably much more serious with extremely tragic consequences.
The most intriguing question with regard to Liz Truss’ resignation as the prime minister of Britain after a mere 44 days in office is this: what is it about her economic programme that the “market” (read “finance capital”) found unpalatable?

But it is silent on why the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University, set up with much fanfare in 2011 by the Chouhan government to provide technical, medical, and engineering courses in Hindi, is now on the verge of closure.
The imposition of Hindi is not only an insidious form of establishing cultural hegemony over non-Hindi-speaking states but also an attack on the federal nature of the Indian state. Also: “Kerala Against Hindi Imposition; Terms Recommendations Attack on Federalism and Diversity of Nation”.
PM Modi’s claim that Nehru did nothing to keep alive the memory of Bose is false to the core. Also: The syncretism that Gandhi, Bose, Nehru believed in is the hallmark of the Indian culture and governance.
The tax system heavily favours large corporations, and has become even more so in recent times.
Tagore’s play Mukta-Dhara foretells the manner in which people across the country have been losing their freedom — those uprooted by development quite obviously so, those ‘benefitting’ from it (mostly living in cities) more subtly and invisibly. This is the ecologically fatal price of ‘progress’, which Rabindranath anticipated in much of his work.
Their health, and the health of their children, is put at risk because they lack the documents needed to obtain the biometric number.
