A coalition of adivasis and forest dwellers’ organisations has sent a memorandum to the MoEFCC Ministry raising serious concerns over Forest (Conservation) Rules, 2022, recently notified by the Centre, saying that it threatens the rights of Adivasis and forest dwellers.

Ram Madhav of RSS stated that if they are called Adivasis, then it will mean that others have come from outside. According to the ideology of Madhav and his organization, we (Hindus) are all original inhabitants of India. Presentation of this narrative has deeper political implications.

On Constitution Day, we need to ask whether we, as a people, have proved equal to the expectations that it has from us. We need to ask why people who tried to emulate the ideals of that living document are in jail and how others are in positions to extinguish its spirit.
