One can find hundreds of committed and fearless activists, scholars and lawyers in the state who drew their inspiration from him.
Fr Stan Swamy, the Jesuit, has now become part of the Adivasi folklore of resistance. He is also a martyr to their cause of protecting their heritage, their ‘Jal, Jangal, Zameen’ from the lusting eyes of the men in political power and their crony corporate friends.
The entire episode leaves behind a feeling that Stan Swamy was virtually thrust a sentence of death without charges being framed against him and without a trial.

In their open letter, they condemn the ‘complete breakdown’ of governance and blatant violation of the rule of law in Uttar Pradesh, and say that the Yogi Adityanath government has “ushered in a model of governance which swerves further and further away from the values of the Constitution”.

It is imperative to ‘be unreasonable’ in a dark time! Not only does it keep hope alive in oneself, but it also inspires it in others, too. Despair may be contagious, but courage is much more so.
In Mexico, as transnational companies have seized control of the country’s agriculture, the loss of food sovereignty has induced catastrophic changes to the nation’s diet and many small-scale farmers lost their livelihoods. It should serve as a warning to India, as that is what the three farm laws will lead to.
