Allah Bakhsh spent all his life countering communal politics of Muslim League and its two-nation theory. In fact, he laid down his life for this cause, assassinated by the goons hired by Muslim league on May 14, 1943.
Out of 381 martyrs, 222 were Hindus, 96 Sikhs and 63 Muslims. Thus, before the appearance of protagonists of Hindu and Muslim separatism, Indian freedom struggle was a united movement over-riding religious and caste divisions. It was a true anti-colonial movement for an inclusive India.

The great Afghan woman martyr, Meena (1956-1987) founded the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA) in 1977. We reproduce here a part of Meena’s poem which she wrote few months before her martyrdom.
