At least 142 schemes in the last 10 years have been launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With new schemes being announced every other day aimed at boosting Modi’s cult, there has been no evaluation or scrutiny of these programmes.
Various arms of the state, including Indian embassies and Raj Bhavans, were deployed to turn the 100th episode of Narendra Modi’s radio show into an occasion for competitive sycophancy.
The increasing misuse of ED as an instrument of power is borne out by a steep 95% rise in its actions since Modi came to power. The central probe agencies are being used to engineer defections from Opposition parties like never before.
