Regardless of what country we live in, we all have a stake in the Argentine people’s success in fighting off the Milei austerity package. If a country with one of the most militant working classes can have extreme austerity imposed on them, similar offensives will soon be on the way elsewhere.

But then why is it that billions of people can’t afford food? It is precisely “markets” that are behind the huge numbers of people with insufficient food.

The message from the recent Congress of the Communist Party of China is continuation of ongoing restructuring of the economy toward capitalism, albeit on Chinese terms and keeping the “commanding heights” of the economy in state hands.
Past annual Global Rights Index reports issued by the International Trade Union Confederation have invariably shown that there is no country on Earth that fully protects workers’ rights and the 2022 edition is not only not an exception but finds that repression of labor organizing is increasing.
