A note on the public hearing on “forced evictions” was organised by Concerned Citizens at Surjeet Bhawan, New Delhi. Hearing testimonials of extreme brutality in the evictions, the jury exclaimed, “G20 became an extra constitutional event, not abiding the rule of law.”
National Alliance of People’s Movements (NAPM), Gujarat, in a statement, has called the recent suicide of Darshan Solanki, a Dalit student of IIT, Bombay, as another “institutional murder” resulting from “crass caste discrimination” prevailing in India’s elite educational institutes.
The proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill-2022 would weaken the finances of states’ power distribution companies, cripple the states’ finances, impose heavy costs on small consumers (especially farmers), and benefit only corporate houses, says the Peoples’ Commission on Public Sector and Public Services.
Condemning “the barbaric and brutal beheading of a person in Udaipur for a social media post defending an obnoxious and reprehensible statement against Prophet Mohammed”, the statement urges the government “immediately act to stop hate mongering by all sections in all forms.”
