The CCG, a group of 93 retired civil servants, warned the revision could disenfranchise millions lacking proper documents.
In an open letter to the President of India, the CCG says that after reports found serious flaws in government’s schemes were made public, the CAG transferred the officers responsible for authoring them “giving rise to the suspicion that they had been punished for being honest and upright”.
The former civil servants, in an open letter to President Droupadi Murmu, said the Union government is making “noticeable attempts” to pressure officers to “show exclusive loyalty to the Union.
In their open letter, they condemn the ‘complete breakdown’ of governance and blatant violation of the rule of law in Uttar Pradesh, and say that the Yogi Adityanath government has “ushered in a model of governance which swerves further and further away from the values of the Constitution”.
