Since the beginning of the corona pandemic in early 2020, the number of COVID-19 deaths has been approximately 330 per day in India, while during the same period the number of tuberculosis deaths has been around 1,230 per day. Yet TB deaths never make the newspaper headlines.

The novel was very effective in drawing attention to the injustices faced by displaced farmers in the wake of the great depression and the dust bowl phenomenon. We in India are all too familiar with this overwhelming reality of our times, and this is all the more reason for remembering this story.
Some inspiring stories of the ingenuity, innovativeness as well as traditional wisdom of ordinary hard working farmers, and also of some organisations who could provide conducive conditions in which the potential of these undoubted abilities of farmers could be realized.
March 25 is the 90th death anniversary of this great freedom fighter, editor, worker and peasant leader, also deeply committed social reformer who sacrificed his life at the age of 40 while trying to stop communal violence and rescue persons from both communities trapped in it.
He and his fellow soldiers will be always remembered for their courage and sacrifice in refusing to fire on peaceful protesters offering non-violent resistance. Thereby a new and glorious chapter was added and a new dimension was given to the history of non-violent struggles against injustice.
